Watched Don, both old and new

Ever since Farhan Akhtar’s Don came out, I wanted to watch the old Don to revive my memories before watching the new one. Ofcourse, the intent being to compare the two movies.

A couple of days ago, I rented a DVD and watched the old Don. Last night I watched the new one. Here is my take on both the movies (please bear in mind, that I am no movie expert):

Amitabh Bachchan (AB) is The Don. Shah Rukh Khan (SRK) doesnt even come close. Maybe it was AB’s height, his charisma or both. SRK is good, but not when compared to the original Don.

The old music is the best. Sorry, Shankar Ehsaan Loy, but Kalyanji-Anandji truimph with their melodious music. I liked the Morya re song from the new movie, didnt like the new Khaike Paan song.

Arjun Rampal was good. Much better than Pran (haha, sorry for comparing them).

Overall a good entertainer. Just don’t go to the movie hall expecting to see a better Don movie. Watch is as just another movie.

  1. the music was pretty good in old don, the new one has nearly tried t destroy that. amitabh was gr8 in the old don and srk is not even close to him as said by u. u r absolutely correct. this remake is failed and now i m worried abt remake of sholey.

  2. True.

The new one ( music and the Don himself ) was nowhere close to the Original..

Okay… I’m no Music Expert here… but the composers should be wise enough to know that Hard beats don’t always work in all songs ( I’m referring to the new Kahike Paan banras )

Morya Re was good. Enjoyed it..

Overall, SRK was good as an act… but the movie… naaah !!
