Trust Aamir Khan to tread the path less traveled. And that’s what the movie is really all about – taking the path less traveled. Not participating in the rat race to top in your class and become a doctor, engineer etc. Exploring your inner self. Thinking, Dreaming and Imagining. And to do what you really like and are good at. My hat tip to Aamir Khan for coming up with something original and taking on such a sensitive topic.
The movie revolves around a dyslexic kid who has trouble coping with studies in school. He is misunderstood by one and all, including his parents. One day his drawing teacher (played by Aamir Khan) finds out about the child’s condition and then embarks on a journey to help the kid and bring out his talents in the field that he is really good in.
I don’t know about you, but there are several moments in the movie that reminded me of my own childhood. Be it the child’s bonding with his mother, the child’s coping with the unruly neighborhood kids or getting punished by the teachers for day dreaming in the class :-)
Both the lyrics and the music are fantastic. The lyrics stay true to the core of the movie. A commendable job by Prasoon Joshi.
I guess this is his first attempt at lyric writing. Please pay special attention to it when watching the movie. You’ll appreciate the words. Trust me. My favourite songs in the movie are – Maa and Manzil Ka Ishara Jame Raho.
The real star of the movie is Darsheel Safary. My Best Actor of 2007 award goes to him. That child has got some serious acting potential. Aamir Khan does a great job as a director.
Hey and last but not the least, I was amazed by the animation work done in the movie. Specially the Earth Pluto fight.
I hope this one wins the Best Movie of the year award.
