Interesting MySQL commentary

An must read post by Jeremy Zawodny outlining the current MySQL landscape – http://jeremy.zawodny.com/blog/archives/010774.html.

Since there is quite a dearth of MySQL DBAs in this country (at least we couldn’t find any that were that good), we took it upon ourselves to get to the depth of the DB. So far we’ve been running the standard build, but am greatly tempted to try out the patched versions to see the performance improvements and enhanced stats reporting that they have been raving about. Not sure whether I’d put the patched versions in production though, but it can be a good experiment. Let’s see.
